University of Georgia
We propose to continue elimination of neglected and imperiled “marginal” landscapes and extend results through partnerships among University of Georgia faculty, students, Clarke County School District teachers and collaborating with goats. The project builds upon a two-year effort to remove invasive vegetation from a campus stream corridor using “prescribed grazing” by goats. This initiative has reduced the abundance of invasives at the site and engaged more than 500 volunteers, who have donated nearly 1200 hours of labor, open meaningful dialogues between the university and the surrounding community.
