  • Dearborn, Mich. — The first Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship goes to a mechanical engineering student in Brazil.

Selected as an outstanding engineering student from nine finalists, Miguel Fonseca is enrolled at Universidade Salvador. Fonseca receives the $10,000 scholarship in his third year of the 5 year Engineering program in Brazil. The Alan Mulally scholarship is scheduled to be awarded to a sophomore or junior for the next 10 years.

Steven Armstrong, Ford South America President, delivered both Mulally’s letter and the program certification to Fonseca, earlier this year.

During an assembly the nine finalists were announced to an overflowing auditorium audience. The Unifacs academic community in attendance were reminded of Mulally’s work while he was Ford Motor Company's CEO and the opportunities for leadership in engineering.
