  • Dearborn, Mich. — There’s been a lot of talk about Fake news, with the advice, “know the source of news.” What if a left swiping of fake news and right swiping of real news gave you feedback in a game, and tools to discern fact from fiction?

According to NPR.com, veteran journalist, Maggie Farley’s Factitious not only indicates a correct or incorrect swipe, the open source game notes an article’s cited sources and direct quotes.

While developing her idea in the American University game lab, a colleague expressed an interest to sharing the game and Farley realized her creation for middle and high school students was really a game for all.

Additionally, the open source aspect allows adaptation of the game for use ranging from classroom to newsrooms.
